How to make Brown Basmati Rice Pilaf




Basmati rice is one of the finest rice which is used for special occasions through out Indian sub continent.

In Basmati rice also there is white rice and brown basmati rice.

Out of the two, the nourishment value of the brown is much higher then the white one for it contains more fibre and has more nutritional value as compared to the white one.

So today, we will see how to make Brown Basmati Rice Pilaf.

We will need following ingredients:

1/4 kg brown basmati rice properly soaked and drained.
1 tblspn butter
1 tsp olive oil
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 Onion
1 Carrot
1 Medium Tomato
1 tblspn Celery
50-60 Gram Black chana
1 Cinnamon stick
6-7 Black pepper corns
1 Green chilli
1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
6-8 Broccoli florets
500 Ml Stock
2 Plums, chopped
1/2 litre of water

Method:

First in a pan heat the butter and the oil. In that add cinnamon, black peppercorns and cumin seeds.
Now you can add onion, celery, carrots and garlic.
Saute this mixture for 10 minutes on low flame.
Now add chana to the vegetables.
Now you can take the brown rice and add it to the above pan
Now you can add tomatoes, salt and pepper
Let it cook very well for some time till the rice becomes soft and all the water is absorbed.
Now add the broccoli and let it steam with the rice.
Garnish it with chopped plums and spring onions and its ready to serve hot.
